Pier Wisconsin exists to foster public awareness and understanding of our freshwater world. We began in 1991 as a group of people dedicated to building a Great Lakes schooner for education and scientific research. Today, we are in the process of building a new Center for Freshwater Exploration on Milwaukee's lakefront and developing exciting programs (using a mix of hands-on and digital technologies) to reach families, students and teachers with freshwater and Great Lakes programming.
We take pride in our history of volunteerism. More than 900,000 volunteer hours went into building the S/V Denis Sullivan ... and that level of involvement is still needed! We invite you to join us as a member, volunteer, donor, "cyber crew" and friend.
